Skiathos Greece guide and weather.
A holiday to Skiathos offers secluded coves and golden beaches with an interior of lush green hills. Claimed by many to have the best holiday beaches in Greece - including, this one at Troulos, the most photographed.
There's only one main road, so getting around Skiathos is easy, with frequent bus services.
The nearby island of Skopelos is often available and provides peace and tranquility and is a mere 90 minutes away by hydrofoil. The best holiday beaches are to be found on the sheltered West Coast.

Skiathos Town is the place to eat and to be seen eating. The beautiful people meet up here, have a meal in one of the harbour-side restaurants and just pass the time over wine and cocktails. Friday and Saturday nights are best after 10pm.
Check out Stammatis on The Steps for fish dishes. Try also Nicos at Taverna Varthalamis just behind the harbour for a real Greek Taverna that wants to stay that way. Try Messogia in the back streets for an other real taverna with character.
As for nightlife Skiathos town has plenty of it especially in July and August when the island becomes the Mykonos of the Sporades. By day Skiathos has it's share of tourist and postcard shops, travel agents, bars, motorcycle rental agencies and hotels, with the rest of the island being best suited to quiet, restrained nights out.
There are over 60 beaches in Skiathos, all sandy including Koukounaries rated 7th best beach in the world and best in Greece.
Skiathos is also home to Banana Beach just around the headland. This is the island's only Naturist Beach and very sheltered. Check out the Cantina at the naturist end of Banana or just sit and watch the sunset.
Skiathos holiday resorts
Achladies
Just 3km from Skiathos Town, this attractive resort has a good sandy beach, plenty of shops, bars and tavernas and facilities for a wide variety of water sports. It's very handy for Skiathos Town and the airport but it can get crowded with locals at weekends.
Kolios
On the western side of the Kalamaki peninsula, Kolios sits in a sheltered, sandy bay with a beach bar, several supermarkets and a good choice of tavernas. As well as the main beach, there's an attractive strip of sand along the coast at Vromolimnos that attracts the young, party crowd.
Troulos
Troulos is the most built up tourist area after Skiathos Town and it has a long, sandy beach, with tavernas, shops, water sports and boats for hire. Buses stop close to the beach and it's only a short ride to Skiathos Town or Koukounaries.
Koukounaries
Named for the umbrella pines, or koukounaries, that flank the beach, this popular resort at the south-west end of the island offers a sweeping crescent of golden sand and a lively assortment of shops, beach bars and tavernas. Skiathos is a short bus-ride away and you can walk from the resort to another pretty beach at Agia Eleni. If you tire of sun and sand, explore the pine forest behind the beach or stroll inland to Strofila Lake.
Shopping: Best buys include jewellery, leather and local arts and crafts.
Days out: For some variety, take a trip to the neighbouring islands of Alonissos and Skopelos.
