Turkey hotel from hell – Holiday Village.

Holiday village Salmonella update: The Holiday Village Turkey in the resort of Sarigerme, Dalaman, dubbed the “hotel from hell” after salmonella illness broke out yet again.
The Holiday Village attracts more than 46,500 holidaymakers every year and First Choice said recent high temperatures in Turkey may have been the cause for recent illness.
Law firm Irwin Mitchell has called on the operator to sort out the problems at the Holiday Village Turkey in Sarigerme, Dalaman, after further cases at what it dubbed the “hotel from hell”. It also said guests had suffered from salmonella every year since 2005.
The firm said, in that time, it had represented 565 people who had become ill while staying at the Holiday Village, formerly called Pegasus Palace.
Clive Garner, head of the Irwin Mitchell’s travel law team, said: “Lessons clearly have not been learned.
“We already know that many of those who contracted illnesses while staying at this hotel are likely to develop long-term and possibly permanent symptoms.
“More worryingly, there are increasing numbers of holidaymakers who have experienced similar problems this year.
“We have already received enquiries from dozens of people, and they have told us of high levels of illness throughout the hotel, including salmonella infection.
“What we’re saying to First Choice is quite simple: more needs to be done to tackle the health and hygiene problems at this hotel.

i have booked to go to the holiday village turkey for july 2010, i made the booking last august 09, i made the booking early so that i would get a free child place! i desperatly want to change this holiday, but have been told by first choice that i will have to pay £35 pp to change this holiday, WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO PAY ANY MORE MONEY i have already payed 3,200!!!!!!

Unfortunately it may be in there terms and conditions, however if you complained to First Choice directly you may get more satisfaction.

I do hope your families are feeling much better. Caroline I do hope you get your money back. I have booked to go next May with my family (9 of us). I was recommended this village by First Choice. I have tried to change the holiday to a different hotel but have been told there is an admin charge of £35 per person. Under the circumstances I am not going to pay. I will go to a solicitor if need be. It is an absolute disgrace that First Choice are still sending families. I called in at a First Choice shop today and the person I spoke to didn’t even know there was a problem
She told me there was a problem last year and thet it was purely air bourne!
I told her to take a look at the reviews. I am going to get in touch with my MP. I feel something has to be done.

We stupidly booked holiday village turkey as a last minute deal on 15th august for 4 people.. Our daughter suffers from cystic fibrosis (which the store knows) and her 3 carers: me her mum, dad and grandma..
we then found all the damning evidence from the hotel from hell and as Cf affects lung and guts cannot travel as this would be impossible risking our child contracting these visious bugs.
Our hospital agrees… First Choice are doing nothing and saying all is fine!!!! we have lost £1700 to date .
We are due to fly there on Sep 14th… I have sent 10 requests to refund us and am getting nowehere so have now sent out press releases to major press and TV. Please everyone shout loudly on this and do not give up. any advice to help us welcome

We left this holiday village on the 14.08.09 half way through our holiday our 2 sons came down with diarrhoea and vomit went to the on site doctor with our youngest child the doctor said what ever it was is passing on returning to the uk now my youngest son had been ill for 15 days on sending of a stool sample we had the health people on our door telling worried parents that he got cryptosporidium and salmonella and im just waiting for it to be confirmed now if he has got typhoid he has now been in hospital for 4 days now

We flew back from the Holiday Village Turkey on 14th August 09, my 3 year old daughter was admitted to hospital the day after our return, and remained there on fluid and antibiotic drips for a week. She was confirmed as having Salmonella Typhus in her blood, salmonella and Cryptosperidium in her guts.
Our 6 year old son, and our friends 8 month old baby have also been confirmed as having the bugs, and we are now waiting for results for myself, husband, our friends and their 3 year old son (we’re all ill with diarrhoea and sickness in varying degrees)
First Choice don’t want to know and are still actively selling holidays to this hotel, sending more poor families to certain serious illness.. This is disgusting. Having booked all of our 2-3 family holidays every year for past 5 years with First Choice, we will never be that stupid again!!
