Travel Advice: Turkey and Egypt are an excellent choice, as they are away from the Euro zone so your holiday pound will go much further.
The Visa cost is £10 in both countries so make sure you have the right money as change will not be given.
Turkey:
Some things can be expensive – but they tend to be optional. Eating out in the holiday season can cost £15 per head. Beer in beach front cafes can cost £2 per bottle.
So our top tip is follow the Locals and Eat where they Eat and save a fortune..
Tourists who only see the inside of their hotel and the surrounding ‘tourist trap’ attractions can easily come away with the impression that Turkey is expensive – but this is how the locals make their money in the 12 week holiday season.
Public transport is clean, efficient and cheap. Within localities it is based on mini buses called Domus.
These vehicles drive around all over the town and outlying areas arriving at the plentiful local stops every 10 minutes or so.
The beach or the shops are never more than a few minutes ride away. Average fares are 20 pence.
Egypt:
The cost of livng in Egypt is very cheap so tip the porter at your hotel or the Dive guides on your boat..
1 British Pound = 10.21675 Egyptian Pounds, so as below a beer is 0.50p
litre of petrol £E1.00, small bottle of water £E1.50
souvenir t-shirt £E40.00,
street snack (fuul or ta’amiyya sandwich) £E0.35, cup of coffee £E2.00 small bottle of imported beer £E6.50
meal in a cheap restaurant £E15.00.
