Holiday advice: Some good news if you ever tried to book a holiday with Teletext.
The end is in sight for the wild west that was teletext, as it shuts down the analogue TV channels in 2010, no more of those phantom holidays. However they will be on Digital but who goes there..
You know the ones, oh yes that holiday has just gone however we do have a more expensive one…
A lot of call centers who rely on teletext for call volumes, are going to be seeing greatly reduced enquiries, which will not only see prices possibly increase but more travel failures..
Future travel said in (travel weekly) “agents are already struggling with poor call volumes ahead of Teletext switching off its news and information services in January 2010. Granada is switching off analogue in December, which means 20% of calls to the homeworking division will be lost.”
Associated Newspapers, the national media division of DMGT, announces that, following a comprehensive review, it has decided to bring forward the shut down of Teletext’s loss-making analogue television services.
Transmission will end in January 2010, rather than 2012 as previously envisaged.
In addition, Teletext will halt a number of its digital television services from the same date.
