Holiday booking advice – warnings.
Holiday advice warnings: We all want the best value when booking package holidays and so we should.
But is the cheaper deal all its cracked up to be, if you have to pay for flights home if the airline goes bust.
That is the dilemma you face when booking your next holiday to the sunshine.
Be wary of booking a holiday, when they say they do not offer “package holidays” and are not atol bonded.
A lot of online companies nowadays will say they do not offer or sell package holidays, but put together the component parts of flights and accomodation.
Here lies the problem, these companies tend not to be ATOL bonded, and will say things like, “we offer total financial protection”.
But this is misleading that total financial protection will not pay for a flight home if the airline goes bust, you would have to pay when abroad and then try and claim it back, if you can get the flights at all.
For example a holiday with an ATOL bonded company like Thomson is say £299 pp but the cheaper deal with a non Atol bonded company is £250 pp, great you may say i will book the cheaper deal.
But wait, is a saving of £50 worth the hundreds of pounds in trying to book flights home if your flight company goes bust at the end of your holiday worth it..
The ATOL bonded deal will fly you home and let you finish your holiday..
Which is a lot better than trying to explain to your boss why your are going to be late back, as you cannot get the flights or worse you dont have enough left on your credit card to pay for the flights…
