Another poorly run travel company collapses: Newcastle-based tour operator and retail travel agent Freedom Direct Holidays has collapsed and ceased trading.
The collapse of Freedom direct should have been seen when they, failed to renew their ATOL licence over 16 days ago Freedom Direct should have been forced to close then..
Customers who have booked holidays with any of these company names should submit a claim to the CAA. Full details of how to do this can be found on the ATOL website or email claims@cpg.org.uk.
This should be made illegal, this company Freedom direct new it was going bust yet it continued to take money up to yesterday, the directors of freedom direct should be prosecuted and sued by the holidaymakers they have let down
Freedom direct also traded as holidaysyoulike.co.uk, holidaysyoulike.com, hotsunholidays.co.uk and snowdeals.co.uk. The Freedom Direct website is still currently up and running.
The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the company had a £750,000 bond which has now been called in. It is thought at least 80 people were employed by the company.
Initial reports claim around 100,000 customers had holidays booked with the operator.
The company also acted as a retail travel agent and customers should contact the supplier of their travel arrangements shown on their booking documents.
Customers requiring further assistance should contact CEGA, ABTA’s claims handling partner, tel. 01243 621500 or email ABTAClaims@cegagroup.com
