When should i Visit?

The best times to visit Florida, are from January to early May and then from September to mid-November. Orlando is affected by the Gulf Stream current, which is a powerful Atlantic Ocean current that causes warmer waters to be brought up from the tropics and creates warmer winter temperatures than the rest of the south east of the United States during the same period.

Orlando has a sub-tropical climate which is warm and humid. Morning humidity stays at above 85% all year round with humidity at its highest during June to October. Because of the extreme humidity, it often feels hotter than it actually is.

This is because humidity

Upsets your bodys cooling system by stopping sweat from evaporating, so you will find yourself hotter than if you were experiencing dry heat....

Book a holiday to Orlando Florida, and you have a holiday destination that is packed with great beaches, tropical heat and world-class theme parks: inc Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens. Plus try to get in a visit to Daytona and of course Cape Canaveral. The central Orlando holiday resorts for Disney and Shopping are International Drive, plus Kissimee.

While everybody knows the big-name theme parks - they've spawned smaller versions in most of our home countries - the real treasures of Orlando's psyche are the sidekicks: Holyland is peddling God; Reige's Firearms rent out real semiautomatics for a blast; and Skull Kingdom is endearingly low-tech.

For visits to the theme parks, save time and money by buying a multi-attraction ticket on your flight over . Car rental can be cheap as part of fly-drive packages, or by haggling off-airport after arrival.

Eating Out:

There are very cheap buffets with all-you-can-eat of an amazing variety of foods. Breakast is a real eye opener; look out for deals where children are welcome to eat free.

The most popular event at Disney World is Gay Day, held every year on the first Saturday in June, when more than 100,000 gays and lesbians turn Mickey Mouse Land into one big street parade and party.

International Drive

I-Drive is a suburb of Orlando itself; a sizeable district clustered around a five-mile long stretch of road (no prizes for guessing its name!) that is Orlando's tourist centre. As you can imagine, there are plenty of entertainment and shopping options in this area, and it's best seen locally by strolling around and marvelling at the bright lights and lively atmosphere.

Kissimmee

This is a purpose-built resort that was designed when Orlando began to burst at the seams with holidaymakers drawn in to the ever-increasing number of local theme parks. As a consequence, with its proliferation of family-friendly hotels, restaurants and bars, the laid-back holiday atmosphere here in Kissimmee resembles a kind of theme park in itself and provides an ideal base if you're here to enjoy the well-known theme parks that are all literally just a few minutes' drive away.

Lake Buena Vista

This is yet another centre of tourism in the Orlando suburbs and boasts the Walt Disney World Resort literally right next door, which means Lake Buena Vista is centrally-located for pretty much all of the other theme parks as well. All the usual over-the-top touristy facilities are here, so you can expect great shopping and a superb choice of family-oriented eateries, all done with the slick American razzmatazz we've come to know and love!

Clearwater

The powdery white sands here have featured on many a promotional poster, and the blue skies, shallow waters & hot sun make Clearwater a wonderful choice for a holiday virtually all year round. There's a great lively nightlife here that is popular with younger holidaymakers.

St Pete Beach

A suburb of St Petersburg, this is a delightful coastal resort with a proud cultural history dating back to the early 16th century. There's a laid-back atmosphere wherever you go in St Pete Beach, and yet there's a massive choice of activities and local attractions, where everything from watersports, restaurants and entertainments are readily available. Add the simply superb white sandy beach, and you have a charming beach holiday destination.

Out and About:

Florida has a huge choice of entertainment whether it be bars, clubs, disco, cabaret and casinos. For families baby sitting services -- bookable through tour operators -- allow parents the chance of a night out

Shops:

Best buys are discounted designer clothes, denim jeans and Disney merchandise. Orlando's International Drive has many discount stores and factory outlets. Remember there is sales tax added to everything.

Day trips:

In addition to the best-known of Florida's theme parks, see St Petersburg's Dali Museum, the Alligator centre, Kennedy Space Centre, and if you've the time take a trip south through the Everglades to the dramatic Florida Keys.
