Many of the Maldives islands have only one resort on them making it the perfect quiet romantic destination.
 Transport to many of the islands is either by sea plane from Male or speedboat or dhoni boat.
Food: Many of the Maldives resorts are single-nationality focused (i.e.Japanese,French,Spanish.) Why not travel to another Island in search of a different cuisine or different lagoon Local food is mainly fresh fish especially Lobster the local delicacy, fruit most popular being coconut and fresh vegetables.
Alcohol is available but as it is a Muslim country, you cannot import it they will take it off you at the Airport.

Shopping: Popular items in the Maldives are locally produced wooden artifacts, sarongs, onyx ornaments and imported goods from Sri Lanka.
The best shopping excursion would be to Male not nly can you visit the local market but souvenir shops and and places of cultural interest.

Days out: Most people come to the Maldives to scuba dive. If this is not for you try snorkelling to see the rainbow coloured fish and coral reefs. Deep sea fishing is available for marlin and swordfish. Or go island hopping for a chance to discover the different delights of each Island. Go on a boat trip in search of dolphins.
