Travel consumer issue - Surcharges and extrasConsumer Issue: If like me, you find it rather annoying to search for a holiday and find that the final cost is nowhere near where it started from, then read on.

Find out how you can avoid paying this, emotive consumer travel issue. Plus I can show you, how to turn a late deal from £264 to just £103 pp

First the Legal bit:

Under current rules, package holiday companies can impose surcharges so long as they meet certain preconditions.

These are that they absorb the first 2% of extra costs, they offer customers the chance of a refund if the surcharge is going to be 10% or more.
Plus the surcharges have to be more than 30 days before the date of departure and must be flagged up in the booking terms and conditions… Phew

Here is a typical late booking deal, with all those little extras and supplements and surcharges. It starts at £428 and ends at £528 and you can still increase it..

Your holiday includes:
2 Adults £418.00
2 Fuel Supplement £10.00
2 Resort Transfer £40.00
2 Adult Supplement £56.00
2 Atol Protection (Apc) £2.00
2 Late Booking Fee £30.00
Includes Online Discount -£27.80
Total £528.20

On top of this you will need to pay for an extra 5kg luggage allowance families take note.. £30 for the party or £15 each if just 2

In flight meals at £13 each or £26 for the party.

If you book the accommodation yourself and the flights, you could have this late deal on the 19th of May ex Gatwick.

The winner is:
Golden Sun Apartments and Studios Malia, Crete, Greece

Flight £182.00 Adults 2 x £91.00
prices include baggage, taxes and fees
