swine-flu travel adviceTravel advice Swine flu: With Airlines trying to stop anyone flying with Swine flu, common sense needs to be applied as far as travel is concerned.

Swine flu needs to put in its place, the sad deaths of 750 individuals worldwide, in the overall scale of things is nothing, when you consider that normal FLu Kills between 250000 and 500000 worldwide every year.

Our Swine flu travel advice is this, if you feel lousy and with flu like symptoms before you travel then don’t..

There are no swine flu travel restrictions to any holiday destination, so Spain Greece Turkey the Caribbean Portugal Majorca Canaries are all safe.

Please find a quick run down of the Swine flu Symptoms:

  • Swine flu in humans appears to be similar to those produced by standard, seasonal flu, hot sweaty achey.
  • A fever – which is a temperature of 38ºC (100.4ºF) – is the key symptom.
  • other complaints which may include a cough, sore throat, body aches, chills and aching limbs.
  • Some people with the virus have also reported nausea and diarrhoea.

People are most infectious soon after they develop symptoms, but they cease to be a risk once those symptoms have disappeared. The incubation period may be as little as two days.

Flu expert Professor Peter Openshaw, of Imperial College London, says about one in every three people who become infected, will not realise they have had swine flu because they will have had no or only very few symptoms.

“About 98% of people who get infected will recover fully without any hospital treatment so I think the public needs to be reassured.”

As with normal flu, the severity of symptoms will depend on treatment and the individual. Many people have only suffered mildly and have begun to recover within a week.

Twenty-nine people have now died in the UK after contracting swine flu – 26 in England and three in Scotland.

If you break that down against the average flu deaths of over 1000 per month then 26 although tragic is nothing

But compared to the 12,000 seasonal flu deaths seen each year on average. Swine flu is all hype.

HI Lee Majorca Swine flu advice

If you feel unwell then normal fly medication will work just as well, however if you need medical advice go to the nearest health center…

Majorca like the rest of Spain has plenty of Tamiflu so rest assured that you will get medical treatment should you need it.
