Sky travel to close at last in June

That dreadful cheesy slightly Oxymoron Sky Travel channel with its overpriced travel deals is to close on June 24th 2010..

It seems that after we reported that the deals on the Sky channels were badly overpriced, Sky TV will close its travel channel and website next month, citing intense competition from the internet.

The satellite broadcaster will shut the channel and its accompanying website on June 24.

A Sky spokeswoman said: “It was a difficult decision as the team has delivered a great product but the internet, rather than linear TV, has become the main channel for holiday retailing.

“In a competitive market, we will continue to focus on our core strategy of doing fewer things but better.”
