British Holidaymakers are spending more € euros on their Travels than ever before.

British holidaymakers spent £18,770 million on trips to the Med and Europe, excluding the costs of travel to and from the countries, in 2007. That compares to £17,132 million in 2006.

In spite of the high value of the euro against the pound – and the relative weakness of sterling versus other currencies, particularly the US dollar – Cheaperholidays Travel Money expects to see more euros exchanged this year than ever before.

“The euro is our favourite form of holiday cash, accounting for 59.6 per cent of all currency sales in the UK. With the recent wintry weather at home, and an early start on the spring/summer season, 2008 could be another record year for the euro”.

That trend will be helped along by the entry into the euro at the start of 2008 of for 3 of the very popular holiday destinations for British travellers – Majorca Cyprus and Malta.

In 2006, over 1.5 million British holidaymakers visited Cyprus
