A total of 4,500 customers of failed airline and package holiday company Flyglobespan are currently abroad, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed.

In terms of forward bookings, the 27,000 holidaymakers booked to travel on a Globespan package holiday will be able to claim a refund. See CAA Globespan refund claim form.

David Moesli, the CAA’s deputy director of consumer protection, said: “We are making the necessary arrangements to allow people who are currently on a package holiday with Globespan to complete their holidays and fly home.

However, customers who booked flights direct with Flyglobespan are not protected by ATOL and are advised to contact their credit card providers.

Until its collapse today, Globespan Group operated airline Flyglobespan and package holiday company Globespan. Customers who booked package holidays with Globespan will be protected by ATOL and can complete their holidays.

Some 3,400 Flyglobespan customers are in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus and Egypt, while 1,100 customers are on package holidays with Globespan in Egypt and the Mediterranean.

“Customers will be booked on to new flights by the CAA to bring them home. We are making arrangements for overseas representatives to provide information to Globespan customers.”

A further 90,000 customers have forward flight bookings with Flyglobespan and may be able to claim refunds from their credit card providers.
