Freedom direct collapse a warning

Consumer travel issues: The Collapse of Freedom Direct caused chaos and only now has ABTA been able to sort out who owes who…

hays-travel buys freedom directAnd although Freedom direct has been bought by Hayes travel, they are still offering the split package deals, that are fraught with danger for a consumer..

A split package is where the agent buy the flights and accommodation separately, and then puts them together as an overall package, however should the Agent company go bust then your holiday goes down the tubes..

Freedom were dealing with oversea suppliers that have not been paid and will not honour any bookings, who can blame them..

So for you the travel consumer what does all this mean, well if you want the safety net of ABTA bonding then book with the tour operators direct.

However if you want independence and like to book flights and accommodation separately then by all means do so, but please be aware if you have problems with your flights, you will still have to pay for the accommodation.

That being said, booking accommodation and flights yourself can be the cheaper option and save you £££’s, and that cant be a bad thing.
