Emergency number in Europe

112 emergency numberIf you are holidaying in Europe this year, then this is the number you need to call the emergency services.

Its 112 one one two. This number will put you through to an English speaking operator and it is the Europe wide equivalent of our 999.

The European emergency number, reachable from fixed and mobile phones, is free of charge to call, everywhere in the EU.

The 112 number works right across the EU and in a few other countries too. In a lot of countries you can even use English, because it will take you through to a particular call centre where there will be English-language operators.

“It works in the UK as well, you can use it in parallel with 999, which is the same in a number of EU countries but some have adopted it as their only emergency number.”
