Taking a young child abroad, typically under 5 is a nightmare, as Baggage restrictions are making it more difficult for families with small children to take a holiday abroad, according to a survey.
A total of 39% of respondents to the travel survey said that, “airlines baggage restrictions make it hard to take childcare essentials with them on holiday”.
Parents also said difficulties getting on board the flight, moving around the airport, and a lack of facilities at hotels, made it hard for them to travel with children.
As a result, 44% of parents wait until their child is over five years old before taking them on a foreign holiday. It was also revealed that 82% of families choose short-haul holidays to avoid complications.
Thomson holidays offer this advice:
Do infants get a baggage allowance?
Infants under the age of 2 have an individual luggage allowance of 10kg. Folding pushchairs and wheelchairs do not count as part of your baggage allowance, however you will not be charged to carry them when travelling on our in-house airline.
Some flights shown are not operated by our in-house airline. The maximum weight for checked baggage on these flights may be limited to 15kg with no additional allowance for infants. The weight allowed for all flights will be shown on your tickets.
Thomas Cook offer 15kg each so family of 4 iallowed 60kg
